SMART INDIA - Smart Solutions for Smart Cities

India’s economy is expanding rapidly and by 2030 it is expected to have grown by five times, strengthened largely by the country’s urban centers. In India, around 350 million people are living in urban areas and it is expected to grow up to 590 million by 2030. This accounts to nearly 40 percent of India’s population as compared to the present 31 percent. India is on the verge of the second greatest urban migration in world’s history with migration of about 25-30 people every minute to major Indian cities from rural areas, in search of better livelihood and better lifestyles. Surging growth and employment opportunities in urban cities will become a catalyst for the economic growth by creating 70 percent of the new jobs while contributing in excess of 70 percent to India’s GDP by 2030.
